ARLINGTON, TEXAS, USA –
The Jamaica Reggaeboyz lost 1-0 to the USA on an 83rd-minute header by Matthew Hoppe in the 2021 Gold Cup quarterfinals in Arlington, Texas. The Reggaeboyz had numerous scoring opportunities but were unable to finish again a tough USA squad playing in from of 50,000 plus spectators.
Jamaica led by goalkeeper and captain, Andre Blake, defended stoutly for 80+ minutes, while Cory Burke and Bobby DeCordova Reid missed a few scoring opportunities in the first half.
Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga was unable to participate due to an injury in his foot that kept him out of full training through the week in Texas.
Jamaica's technical staff now looks ahead to a tough Qatar 2022 World Cup qualification match on September 2nd versus Mexico in Mexico to kick off the World Cup Campaign....
