[THREE THOUGHTS ON ... USA-Guatemala] The U.S. national team completed its fourth week together on Sunday as it flew off to Guatemala City. It seems like an eternity to gather for two games, Friday's Antigua & Barbuda game and Tuesday's key World Cup 2014 qualifier against Guatemala. After looking sharp in the opening friendly against Scotland, the U.S. play has looked increasingly ragged. THE LEFT BACK JINX. Jurgen Klinsmann assured everyone there is no shortage of options at left back.

“We always have left backs. Anybody can play left back,” Klinsmann said with a laugh. “We had [assistant coach] Andy Herzog play left back, [but] he doesn’t have an American passport. We’ll figure it out. We’ll find solutions.”

Unfortunately, this was before Jose Torres went down with an ankle injury.

Options at left back for Tuesday's game include bringing back Fabian Johnson, injured in warm-ups before the Canada friendly, moving Carlos Bocanegra over from center back or going with Michael Parkhurst.

Klinsmann is likely to go with the latter option, even if left back is a position at which Parkhurst has only played occasionally for Danish champion FC Nordsjaelland.

It would be risky to bring back Johnson, while there are not exactly many choices to replace Bocanegra in the middle.

There is no way Klinsmann is going with a repeat of the move he made after Torres got hurt and start Oguchi Onyewu in the middle. The only other player available to play alongside Clarence Goodson in the back is Geoff Cameron, and Klinsmann hasn't played him since the first game against Scotland.

THE RIGHT BACK FUTURE. Some may say left back wouldn't be a problem if Tim Chandler had committed to the USA, but it says here he is needed at right back, not left back, perhaps not now, but soon.

Steve Cherundolo has been perhaps the most underrated U.S. player of the last decade, but he is getting up there in years. He'll be 35 by the 2014 World Cup.

He's played all four games at right back and has been quieter than usual.

Chandler on the right and Johnson on the left would be a great combo on the outside that the USA could run with for a decade.

The match will change the tide of our WCQ campaign, mi dun tell unnu

Determination is what the Boyz need against the USA. Both teams match up pretty evenly as far as personnel/skill/speed but the USA has always had a slight advantage when it comes to the ability to dig deep for the win. If Jamaica can add the confidence and determination for victory, then the shock factor alone will play to their advantage.

we need to be fully engaged and focused for 100 minutes, why 100 because we need NO pre or post match foolishness.

With this yute coming up I think we might not see Marlon King back in JA colors again

I don't necessarily agree wid dat notion. It depends on how you think the team should be selected. Suppose King score 25 goals next season and earn his team promotion to the Premiership, shouldn't dat earn him a recall? There are too many variables such as current form and injuries in selecting a team to just write off any one player.

As far as King is concerned, he was given a 2 match ban. So he is eligible for selection after that. It will be up to Tappa whether to call him or not.

If Jamaica is leading the group ahead of this expect a few things:

1. The Captain will increase tickets prices significantly
2. The Stadium will be pack to the roof
3. There will be appeals made about the crowd/field by the USA
4. MLS teams will not release our players as early as we would like
5. As always a player from one of the politrickal (HV,PMU,Tivoli Gardens) clubs will be in the squad.
6. Look for a recall of Humphrey and at least two more England-based players.

Who is the current politrikal representative from Tivoli?

TRUE WORDS, I THINK FIFA SHOULD SET UP SOME RULES THAT A NATINAL TEAM MAY GETS ITS PLAYER AT ANYTIME NEEDED AS LONG AS ITS NOT AN INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY MATCH. BECAUSE WCQ ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN A CLUB TITLE.

Stage 1a complete....next stage 1b.

We will need to significantly improve this squad to have any chance of getting points vs USA.

Morrison will need to continue to improve, Austin needs to secure a move to England League Championship or higher.

We need some backups for Mapps and Nuggsy because if they get injured or suspended, we are SCREWED.

And the technical staff needs to diversify our attacking schemes.


Personally, I am confident Tappa will do the job in the USA series.

The reggaeboyz will have to play their hearts out for this one .
The americans already knew Jamaica maybe its strongest Opposition.

We need improvement in a few positions before this game is played.
Outside of England mattocks, Sean Johnson,Kari and dicoy needs extended looks.
