POOR
FINISHING ROBS JAMAICA OF VICTORY
KINGSTON, Jamaica, April 25
The ReggaeBoyz missed some excellent first-half chances and were
held to a 1-1 draw by Honduras in their World Cup CONCACAF qualifying
game on Wednesday. Jamaica, without skipper Linval Dixon, defender
Christopher Dawes, suspended Tyrone Marshall and injured Daryl Powell
and Barry Hayles, are now fourth in the six-team group with four
points trailing the Unites States , second-placed Costa Rica and
third-placed Mexcio. The Reggae Boyz goal came from Ricardo Gardner
in the 56 minutes, and were forced to saved a penalty in the 72nd
minute but then gave up an equaliser to Samuel Caballero eight minutes
later. Jamaica played some wonderful one-touch passing and exciting
dribbles in midfield, but strikers Onandi Lowe and Deon Burton failed
to seal the issue. The Reggae Boyz dominance was finally rewarded
when a right-sided corner by Gardner curled between two defenders
at the near post and beat goalkeeper Noel Valladares. The Hondurans
fought back and gained a penalty that brought out the best in goalkeeper
Donovan Ricketts, who made a brilliant save. Honduras equalised
when a corner on the right found Caballero, who nodded past Ricketts.
Despite the disappointment of a draw at home, technical director
Clovis de Oliviera praised his team saying that the passing was
superb and that it was the best the team has played since he took
over as coach. Teams: Jamaica - Donovan Ricketts, Fabian Davis,
Ian Goodison, Shavar Thomas, Marco McDonald, Ricardo Gardner, Jaimie
Lawrence, Theodore Whitmore, Andrew Williams, Deon Burton, Onandi
Lowe. Honduras - Noel Valladares, Samuel Caballero, Ninrod Medina,
Reynaldo Calvasquin, Amado Guevara, Milton Nunez, Carlos Pavon,
Maynor Suazo, Rony Morales, Marco Mejia and Jaime Rosales. More

Boyd strikes twice for Swansea
April 11
Goals from Jamaican international Walter Boyd in the 75' and 90'
gave Swansea a much deserved 3-1 victory over FA semifinalist
Wycombe. The Swans came from behind to claim all three points,
dragging visitors Wycombe back into the relegation scrap in the
process. It was Reggae Boy Walter Boyd who was the hero at the
final whistle, netting two goals as he made his first league start
since the trip to Bournemouth in December. With 15 minutes remaining
in the game Romosenta a perfect ball for Boyd to latch onto outside
the box. The Jamaican still had a lot to do, as he cut past McCarthy
and Bates, before firing an unstoppable drive just inside TaylorÕs
right hand post for his first goal of the game. The Swans sealed
the three points into stoppage time with a wonderful strike from
Boyd who picked up a clearance 20 yards out and unleash a fierce
volley that was still gathering speed as it rocketed past Taylor
into the top right. More
